Broken Gas Line Secured In Concord After Evacuations

Concord's Fire Department said the scene was cleared around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dominion Energy crews remained on site to repair the line.

CONCORD, NC — Several stores near on Concord Parkway North in Concord were evacuated for over an hour Wednesday afternoon after a gas line break was discovered in the area.

Concord Fire Department announced on social media that the rupture happened at 1495 Concord Parkway North. Mayflower, Walgreens and Moe's stores nearby were evacuated as a safety precaution.

In a Tweet, the City of Concord announced fire crews and Dominion Energy workers were at the scene of the incident just before 2 p.m. Wednesday working to secure the leak.

Just after 3:30 p.m., fire officials announced the leak had been secured and fire crews were clearing the scene. Dominion Energy crews remained on the scene to finish repairing the line, and evacuated stores remained closed as a precaution.
