Here’s How Much Ohio Loves Christmas

CLEVELAND — Ohio has more Christmas spirit than almost any other state in the U.S., according to a new report. Christmas in Ohio is a day for spending time with family, swapping presents and digging into tasty treats. The holiday can also be a reason to spend the week vacationing on an island or simply basking in the nothingness of a day off from work.

GetCenturyLink, an internet and home phone service provider, recently released a study on the states with the most and least Christmas spirit. The Buckeye state finished 4th overall on the list.

To determine which states have the most Christmas spirit, GetCenturyLink analyzed 10 metrics of Christmas spirit on a state-by-state basis, including the amount of Google searches for Christmas cards, the number of Christmas songs streamed and the number of tweets related to Christmas.

Tennessee ranked as the No. 1 state for Christmas spirit. The Volunteer State also earned a top 10 distinction for most Christmas tweets, Christmas music listening and Google searches for “Christmas movies.”

Nevada finished as the state with the least amount of Christmas spirit. The bottom five were rounded out by Hawaii, California, Florida and Arizona. “The bottom five states all share a low chance of having a white Christmas,” authors of the study wrote. “Perhaps the lack of snow points to why it’s harder for these warmer states to tap into their holiday cheer.”
