Newport's Gooseberry Beach Closed To Swimming

There are currently four beaches closed for high bacteria levels across Rhode Island.

NEWPORT, RI — Gooseberry Beach is closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels. At this time, four beaches across Rhode Island have been declared unsafe by the Rhode Island Department of Health.

On Tuesday night, Surfer's End at Sachuset Beach in Middletown was closed. Camp Grosvenor in Saunderstown and the Kent County YMCA Upper and Lower Ponds are also closed for high bacteria levels.
