Rhode Islanders had a chilly start to the day Friday after temperatures plunged into the low teens in parts of the state overnight. While relief is on the way for the weekend, Friday’s high is only expected to top out around the freezing mark.

Central Rhode Island saw the lowest morning temperatures, with Coventry and Providence falling to 13 degrees. During the day, peak temperatures are only expected to reach 33 degrees in Providence.

There is good news, though: some relief is on the way for the weekend. Highs are expected to reach the mid-40s on Saturday and low-50s on Sunday, with clear skies.
