Austin LGBT Chamber Of Commerce Hires Executive Director

Currently vice president of local government relations at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Tina Grider-Cannon takes helm on May 6.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce board of directors hired Tina Grider-Cannon as the organization’s new executive director, officials said Tuesday.

Cannon, currently vice president of local government relations at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, will take the helm of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce on May 6, officials said.

“After thorough planning and an extensive search process, the board is pleased to have found the ideal person to assume leadership of our organization,” Chase Kincannon, chair of the board of directors, said in a prepared statement. “Tina has a strong track record of leadership both at a chamber of commerce and as an entrepreneur in the Austin startup space. That, combined with her deep knowledge of the Austin business landscape, makes Tina uniquely qualified to lead our chamber into the future.”

Added Grider-Cannon: “I am honored by and grateful for the opportunity to lead this exceptional organization. The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce serves as a pivotal partner for LGBT businesses and their allies. This is a tremendous opportunity that any leader would welcome.”

Prior to joining the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Grider-Cannon was a senior policy analyst for Austin City Council District 10, according to a chamber-provided bio. Additionally, she formerly was an entrepreneur in Austin, along with an entrepreneur-in-residence at Texas State University in San Marcos and a guest blogger for CBSNews.com. An accomplished public speaker, Grider-Cannon has been a featured presenter at various technology events. She graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
