Austin PD Seeks Help Identifying Theft Suspect

AUSTIN, TX β€” Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect involved in multiple thefts, law enforcement officials said on Saturday.

In an emailed advisory, police said the suspect has entered clinics and businesses before telling them either that he works for the electric utility company or is part of the maintenance crew to check light bulbs or electrical equipment. The suspect then gains access to offices and goes through employees' items stealing cash or other items from their desks, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 40 to 50 years of age. A photo of the suspect was issued in the hopes somone might recognize him and alert police as to his identify and/or whereabouts. Police urged potential victims to check for identification before allowing entry into businesses.
