AUSTIN, TX β€” ICOSA, an artist-run non-profit cooperative gallery showcasing a diverse range of contemporary art and programming, invites the community to The Pleasure of Making - an exhibition of created works by local hobbyists and crafters. The event highlights the makers desire to learn, engage, observe and problem solve, confront challenges of techniques, refine skills, relieve stress, share and form community, with the ultimate goal being to create for pleasure.

The exhibition celebrates craft and reminds the audience the value of engaging in a hobby as society sees itself consumed by digital content. Research indicates those who engage in a hobby may lead a more joyful, calm and emphathetic life, and eases a range of mental and physical afflictions. The Pleasure of Making is a visual commentary on the power of the creative outlet and how makers contribute to preserving society's connections with thoughts, feelings and emotions. The Pleasure of Making will host its opening reception on Friday, Jan. 24 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m and the exhibition will run at ICOSA from Friday, Jan. 24 through Saturday, Feb. 15.
