AUSTIN, TX —The Texas Department of Transportation will host a second series of open houses to gather public input toward developing its Texas Transportation Plan 2050, with a gathering scheduled next week in Austin.

TTP 2050 is the state’s multi-modal, long-range transportation plan that serves as the guiding policy document to address the state’s transportation needs, TxDot officials explained. The project will incorporate strategies for the development, construction and implementation of projects and services for all transportation modes, and information about emerging transportation technologies (e.g. self-driving cars) and emergency operations, state transportation officials explained.

"TxDOT wants to hear from you as it plans for the future of Texas transportation," officials wrote in an advisory. "At the open house, the public can review displays, talk with staff and provide input. Public comments will be accepted throughout the development of the Texas Transportation Plan through early 2020."

Round 1 outreach meetings gathered stakeholders’ feedback on statewide goals and objectives, regional priorities and challenges, and transportation behaviors and preferences. For Round 2, TxDOT wants your input on how the agency should invest its limited resources given the state’s massive transportation needs. Also new for Round 2 is an interactive investments tool and a series of story maps on the Texas rural transportation system, emergency operations, and on the transportation modes that TxDOT plays a role in.

Special Accommodations

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be in English. If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call (210) 354-2925 at least 2 working days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.
