BURKE, VA — Investigators determined an unattended fire pit caused a blaze at a Burke home Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Around 2:58 p.m., firefighters from Fairfax County and City of Fairfax responded to a home in the 10100 block of Marshall Pond Road in Burke. Crews found a "large volume of fire" behind the home with a shed ablaze. The fire had approached the home and two adjacent homes, but firefighters put it out before it could extend into the homes.

No one was injured or displaced. Damages to the three homes were estimated to be around $77,500.
