Springfield Man Dies After Falling From Moving Car's Roof: Police

The man was seriously injured after falling from the car roof. He died several days later.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A man died days after falling from the roof of a moving car in Springfield on Aug. 16, according to Fairfax County Police.

Investigations determined Samran Khan, 19, of Springfield, was laying on the roof of 1997 Honda Civic while another man was driving it around Hooes Road and Beverly Park Drive. When the driver turned onto Beverly Park Drive after 10 p.m., Khan fell from the car.

Khan went to the hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the crash. Police did not provide details on why Khan was on the car roof.
