See the First Photos of Cheyenne Jackson's 'Outrageous' Look as Hades in 'Descendants 3'

He’s starred in hit shows like American Horror Story and 30 Rock, but Cheyenne Jackson says it’s his role as Hades in Descendants 3, the second follow-up to Disney’s 2015 smash hit, that has his inner circle most excited.

“I had no idea what a global juggernaut this movie is until I got the role,” says Jackson, 43. “My friends with older kids freaked out when I told them. It’s incredible to be a part of this fantasy world.”

In the film, which brings together Disney’s most infamous villains, Jackson plays Hades, a character he said was in part inspired by an “80s ex rocker God guy.”

Says Jackson: “He’s lived a lot of life, and he has a lot to prove. And the character isn’t so cut and dried. There is some grey area, and that’s why it’s so fun to play him.”

Not to mention the “outrageous” look, complete with an extravagant blue wig. “It’s super strong and iconic,” Jackson says. “I love the way the hair and makeup worked together.”

Jackson’s 2-year-old twins, Willow and Ethan, also approved of the look.

“I was afraid my son would be nervous, but he totally knew it was me,” says Jackson, who has been wed to entrepreneur Jason Landau since 2014. “They were obsessed.”

Continues Jackson: “I’m so excited that the movie comes out this summer. My kids will be big enough to see it!”

Descendants 3 premieres Summer 2019 on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW. Fans will also get to see Hades in the first teaser for Descendants 3, debuting Friday night during Kim Possible on Disney Channel.
