Helena Deland has announced her debut album Someone New. It arrives October 16 via Luminelle. Below, find the Montreal singer-songwriter’s new video for the title track, directed by Xavier Bélanger-Dorval.

“‘Someone New”’ is about the validation and relief from one’s internal world that a romantic encounter can offer, but also about becoming aware that there seems to be an expiry date on that type of opportunity for women,” Deland said in a press release. “It ambivalently celebrates and condemns the idea of being in one’s ‘prime,’ as it is so rare that youth and self-understanding are simultaneous.”

Earlier this year, Deland released Someone New’s “Lylz.” Back in 2018, Deland shared four volumes of her Altogether Unaccompanied release series.
