The Maine CDC reports there have been 2,189 cases of COVID-19, so far in the state, which is an increase of 52 from the previous day. Three elderly Cumberland County residents have died, taking that total to 84. 1,402 people have recovered from the virus, an increase of 45.

Seven staff members of the state emergency operations center have been tested for COVID-19, after waking up Thursday morning with flu-like symptoms. Peter Rogers, Director for the Maine Emergency Management Agency says the employees had fever, chills, aches and pains, and joint fatigue. Test results are expected today for three employees of MEMA, two from the Maine CDC, and two members of the National Guard.

Twelve of the 13 branch offices of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, as well as the central office in Augusta, will open for business on Monday. However, anyone needing BMV services will need to make an appointment or conduct their business by phone. The Springvale BMV branch will be closed until further notice.

Volunteers are needed to help clean up the grounds at Fort Knox to prepare for summer visitors. Anyone interested in helping can meet at the fort tomorrow at 10 a.m, where tools will be provided. However, bringing your own rake and gloves would be welcomed.

The Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor will reopen on June 15th. Governor Mills' administration has released guidelines for Maine's museums to reopen, including requiring all staff, vendors, and visitors to wear face masks, restricting the number of visitors, and following disinfecting protocols.

Acadia National Park is opening up some previously closed areas on June 1st, giving access to the Park Loop Road and most associated bathrooms. Park Rangers will provide some limited information services in tents outside the Hulls Cover Visitors Center and the Jordan Pond House Restaurant will open for takeout, with tables set up inside and outside.
