The centre honoured the elderly and held a week-long series of activities at the various TAFTA homes.

TAFTA’s Primrose Wellness Centre in Wentworth commemorated Older Person’s Week through a heartwarming initiative, recently.

The centre honoured the elderly and held a week-long series of activities at the various TAFTA homes.

It was a joyous day for the seniors, who had a wonderful time at the Bollywood-themed event.

The ladies were dressed in their colourful saris while the men donned their finest sherwanis.

Edna Burgees, (72), a senior, who attended the function, said, “International Day of Elder Persons is an acknowledgment and celebration of the elderly people in the community where we all get together and have lots of fun. It is a great thing for the government and TAFTA to acknowledge us because we all played a part in the history of South Africa.”

She excitedly added, “Today was a beautiful day and we all dressed up and had lots of fun. It was also my husband’s birthday so the day was extra amazing.”
