Woman ICDS supervisor caught taking bribe in Odisha

Malkangiri: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Geetanjali Swain, ICDS Supervisor, Malkangiri for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 4500.

According to reports, Swain had demanded the amount from one Gayatri Naik, Anganwadi Worker of Kandikiguda Anganwadi Centre, Malkangiri for passing bill submitted by the latter and three other Anganwadi Workers related to cooked meals served by them at Anganwadi Centre.

Acting on a complaint lodged by them, a trap was laid by Vigilance sleuths and Swain was caught red-handed while accepting the money from Naik. The bribe money was recovered from the vanity bag of Swain and seized in the presence of witnesses.

Following Swain’s arrest, her house was searched by the Vigilance officials. A case under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered in this connection and further investigation was underway.
