Minnesota’s big weekend on the recruiting trail continued into Sunday, as the Gophers landed a sixth player to the recruiting class in the last 24 hours, this one from the heart of SEC country.

Sunday morning, the Gophers secured a commitment from Statesboro, Ga., native Michael Dixon. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety gave his verbal pledge to Minnesota, becoming the sixth player this weekend to join the 2020 class.

On Saturday alone, Minnesota received verbal commitments from five players.

Dixon does not yet have any rankings on 247sports, but he has received 10 offers on the recruiting trail. Currently, Minnesota is the only B1G program to offer the defensive back.

The announcement came on Sunday morning via Twitter, with the word “Committed” along with a photo.

Dixon held offers from Syracuse, Western Kentucky, Charlotte and Arkansas State, along with Minnesota. He also has five offers from FCS programs.

The Gophers now have 14 players committed in the 2020 class. Per 247Sports’ rankings, Minnesota ranks 29th nationally and seventh in the B1G. To start the weekend, the Gophers ranked 42nd nationally.
