One of Washington’s Best Brewers Just Opened a New Fremont Taproom

It’s Aslan Brewing Company’s first in Seattle

Good news for beer fans in the area. The well-regarded, certified organic brewery Aslan Brewing Company from Bellingham, WA, opened its long-awaited new taproom in Fremont this weekend. It’s a cozy spot on North 36th Street, not too far from the Lenin statue, much more convenient for Seattleites than taking a long drive up north (and more social than buying a Batch 15 six-pack at the local grocery store).

The new location — which joins Aslan’s two Bellingham outposts — has almost a modern log cabin-like aesthetic, with tables and a bar made of reclaimed wood from an old barn, along with some trippy artwork along the walls and a TV for sports watching. Most importantly, the taps are flowing with several popular Aslan standbys, including the nutty B’ham brown ale, as well as two newer lagers for fall: the Oktoberfest style Das Boot and the crisp, fresh hop helles Kellerbier.

Located in a new building called Cedar Speedster, the taproom will share some barrel aged projects, seasonal beers, and one-off creations that are usually not available in the Seattle market. There’s also an adjacent space for more equipment and additional standing room.

Within a week’s time, there will be sandwiches from Salumi served, which should hold down the food service until a new seafood restaurant called Local Tide opens next door. The building will also eventually house top-notch Korean restaurant Revel, which relocated temporarily to South Lake Union last year. Dogs are welcome, but it’s 21+, so leave the kids at home (with a sitter, of course). Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
