All About Mango In Bellevue

The Eastside is about to get a major fruit infusion. Mango Mango Dessert — a popular New York-based chain with 14 locations around the country — is planning a Bellevue outpost, according to one local blog, which posted photos of the storefront on Bellevue Way Northeast. Known mainly for mango-filled treats such as shaved ice, pancakes, and panna cotta, the shop also has some other intriguing dishes, such as papaya snow fungus and almond soup, for those who aren’t feeling the main fruit theme. There’s no timeline yet for the opening.

Goodbye to a West Seattle Italian Favorite

After five years serving up well-crafted Italian fare to West Seattle denizens, it looks like Westcity Kitchen closed down permanently on Thursday. West Seattle Blog noticed an announcement on the window of the building, which has been sold. Westcity appeared on Eater Seattle’s list of best restaurants in the neighborhood, known for a host of coastal options, from satisfyingly plump shrimp and andouille sausage over polenta to grilled salted sardines on a bed of fresh greens. Eater Seattle reached out to the restaurant for further details, but hasn’t heard back as of publication.

Crepes Coming to California Avenue, From a French Pizza Master

In happier West Seattle news, an exciting new crepe place is about to open in West Seattle Junction. According to Westside Seattle, Naked Crepe — from renowned chef Jacques Nawar — will open at 4508 California Avenue this Sunday. Customers can expect sweet crepes filled with fruit, chocolate, and Nutella, while savory options will include ham, cheese, chicken, and vegetable-only. The Marseille-born Nawar — whose Pizzeria Crudo appears on Eater Seattle’s list of best pizza places in the city — will use both wheat flour batter and gluten-free European buckwheat to make his concoctions. Initial hours will be from 9 a.m. until around 6-7 p.m.
