Seattle’s Planned Pokémon-Themed Pop-up Bar Has Officially Been Nixed [UPDATED]

So much for those Pikachu burgers. In August, it was announced that a pop-up Pokémon bar called, naturally, PokéBar would be coming to Seattle next June, bringing along burger buns in the shape of the anime characters, themed drinks, trivia, costume contests, and more. But as Eater Montreal reported earlier this fall, things started to unravel because the pop-up’s organizers apparently did not seek or secure permission from Nintendo to use the Pokémon branding for the event. Events across the country were canceled. Now this city’s pop-up has been nixed as well.

There was still an outside chance that the event would be rebranded into something called “the Monster Burger Bar Brunch,” especially since the Seattle event was so far out (other cities had originally scheduled the pop-up this fall). But even that attempt has been abandoned.

“It has been cancelled unfortunately and will no longer be relaunched,” Terry Adams of Hyper Public Relations tells Eater Seattle, adding that those who purchased the $45 tickets for the Seattle pop-up have already been refunded their money.
