Atlanta Hawks: Adding two more lottery picks, their future is bright

After a making a big splash at the 2019 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks have one of the brightest futures in the NBA

The Atlanta Hawks had a pretty good showing at the NBA Draft. They were able to move up to the 4th spot after giving New Orleans the 8, 17, and 35th picks to select De’Andre Hunter.

Last year, Atlanta made a similar move to acquire Trae Young in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Dallas Mavericks traded the 3rd overall pick to the Hawks for the 5th overall pick and a future first-round pick, in the 2018 NBA Draft.

With this year 10th pick, the Hawks picked Cam Reddish, a 6-foot-8 forward from Duke University. The Hawks are building a legitimate young core. Reddish and Hunter will play alongside Trae Young and John Collins; both players are showing a lot of promise.

Young is one of the favorites to win Rookie Of The Year award, which will officially be announced June 24. He had an outstanding rookie season, averaging 10 points, four rebounds, and eight assists per game. His game is very similar to Steph Curry. Young can hit deep 3’s from beyond the line. He showed that he is capable of doing that in a preseason game against the Spurs. Young hit the game-winning 3 from the logo. He can put the ball on the floor and attack the paint.

He is a great playmaker, always getting his teammates involved. Trae Young does a great job lobbying the ball for Collins to dunk. John Collins is a 6-foot-10 big man. His game is mostly dunking and dominating under the goal. He can shoot from 3 as well. Collins averaged 20 points 10 rebounds and two assists per game. This past season, Collins scored a career high of 35 points against the Chicago Bulls. Twelve of the 35 points came from 3.

Cam Reddish will be a great addition for the Hawks. He does a great job at pushing the ball in transition. He likes to hit pull up 3’s and hesitation drives when he gets the defender on his heels.  His ability to hit 3’s will create spacing on the floor.

Last season for Duke, Reddish hit a wide-open game-winning 3 against a Florida State. The Blue Devils were down by one point with 2.8 seconds left to go. Florida State had a miscommunication on defense leaving Reddish wide open for the 3.

This season, Trae Young and Cam Reddish will be a great match. When the defenders pick up Young on his drives, he can pass the ball out the Reddish for the 3. De’Andre Hunter is a 6-foot-8 small forward, who was tough to cover in his collegiate years. His size allowed him to get the basket easily on his drives. He is known for his defensive.

He can guard all five positions. His strength and length made it tough for drivers to score on him. Hunter is already a champion. He won the National Championship this past April while playing for Virginia.  The Atlanta Hawks are going to be fun to watch and has a bright future.
