Motorist Allegedly Shoots Self After I65 Crash, Leaves Scene, Facing Charges

WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A 32-year-old Antioch man is facing numerous charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash on I65 and accidentally shooting himself in the process, authorities say.

According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office PIO Jessica Drake, the incident started when the man allegedly crashed his vehicle on I65 North around 2:42 AM on Thursday morning. Detectives believe that after the crash he accidentally shot himself in the pelvis as he was exiting his vehicle.

According to Drake, evidence shows it appears to be a self-inflicted accidental gunshot wound.

After allegedly shooting himself, the man left the vehicle on foot and headed East towards Ozle Fulps Rd. MAP There he approached a home seeking medical attention and the resident called 911. MORE BELOW

A gun was recovered in the area between the accident scene on I65 and Ozle Fulps Rd. According to Drake, the man was not supposed to be in possession of a firearm.

The yet unidentified man was transported via ground to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville in stable condition.

The incident is still under investigation by the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the man will be facing numerous charges.

Robertson County EMS, the Cross Plains Fire Department, the Robertson Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
