RALEIGH, N.C. – A former State Trooper who was seen on video beating a homeless man has pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges of willful failure to discharge his duty today.

  • Michael Blake pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges of willful failure to discharge his duty Monday.
  • He was one of the law enforcement officers seen on video beating a Raleigh homeless man in 2018.
  • He will have to complete 200 hours of community service.

He was one of the law enforcement officers caught on video in April of 2018 punching Kyron Hinton and releasing a dog on him.

Three officers in total were charged in the beating of Kyron Hinton.

Hinton was found deceased in February of 2019. According to DA Lorrin Freeman, his death was likely caused by cocaine toxicity or an injury to his neck that might indicate homicide.
