Police say 30-year-old Soheil Mojarrad was shot and killed by Officer W.B. Edwards just after 8:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of N. Rogers Lane at the Overtime Sports Pub, near the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Rogers Lane. The SBI is investigating.

They say the officer was equipped with a body-worn camera but it was not activated at the time of the shooting. Police say they have other footage they'll be looking at to try and learn more about the case. The Raleigh Police Department is also launching an investigation of its own.

There is no word on Edwards' work status at the department, or if he is on adminstrative leave. A five-day report regarding this case, that should reveal more about what may have led up to the shooting, is expected to be released sometime this week.
