The Indian Cricketers Association (ICA), which had its second meeting at the BCCI headquarters on Friday, filled vacancies for male and female representatives for all State associations except Manipur and Sikkim.

“Both the States do not have former cricketers to represent in the apex council. So, we all have to look at other options,” ICA chief, Ashok Malhotra, told Sportstar .

Though the ICA chief did not specify, it has been learned that the body could approach cricketers from adjoining States to fill in the vacancies for the two associations. In its first meeting on October 16, when the ICA had met for the first time, it filled about 24 vacancies and needed to fill another 14.

‘Hope to get the ball rolling’

“We have filled in the vacancies for all the States, except the two. Once the BCCI apex council is in place, we hope to get the ball rolling,” another official said.

The ICA — which is India’s first ever players’ association formed as per recommendation of the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha panel — had prepared a tentative budget of ₹10-15 crore but the money is likely to be sanctioned only after the board holds its Annual General Meeting.

The ICA board will again meet on Saturday to discuss the roadmap.
