Jean Cole
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Jean Cole, 87, died Nov. 21, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 1, 1931, in Moundville, Ala., daughter of the late Newborn C. and Sarah Katherine Duncan Griffin, she had been a custodian for the East Prairie School System and was a self-employed farmer with her husband for many years. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in East Prairie.
On March 17, 1949, in Osceola, Ark., she married William V. Cole; he preceded her in death on June 18, 2014.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cindy (Reid) McMinn of East Prairie and Laurie (Chris) Scherer of Portageville; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Denny Cole; three brothers, Louie Griffin, Clyde Griffin and Grady Griffin; and five sisters, Joan Mueller, Ruby Tubbs, Flora Baker, Mary Trude Davis and Addie Griffin.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Saturday at First Assembly of God Church in East Prairie with Ross Marshall and Larry Griffin officiating.
Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Uthoff, Keith McCutchen, Scott Griffin, Steve Eaves, Travis Stockman and Nicholas Marines.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Louis Griffin, Wayne Griffin, Wilbur Griffin, Danny Griffin, Bruce Huffstutler and Paul Griffin.
