Storm Passes, Eastern North Dakota Digs Out

Another winter storm has come and gone in North Dakota, leaving the eastern half of the state digging out from the snow.

It was another weekend of rough traveling in much of the Peace Garden State. Fargo's KFGO Radio reported Sunday that much of the interstate system east of Bismarck was closed over the weekend due to the wintry conditions.

And once again, authorities reported a number of fender benders. Snow drifts Saturday blocked Highway 36 near Woodworth, in Stutsman county.

The Highway Patrol said blowing snow made it impossible to see for much of Friday and Saturday. The blowing snow also caused drifts on the road and bridge underpasses filled with snow, making travel at times "difficult or impossible."

The Bismarck truck stop was at capacity much of the weekend. Police reported a mishap involving a freightliner that sideswiped a wrecker and snowplow on I-94 in Barnes County.

As of late Sunday afternoon, most of I-29 and I-94 had reopened. Snow removal continued into Monday.
