Newcastle fans react as club linked with another Brazilian attacker

Newcastle United confirmed their first summer signing on Tuesday in the form of Joelinton from Hoffenheim, and now they are reportedly after another Brazilian attacker – and Toon fans have reacted on Twitter.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporto have claimed that Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson has travelled to Brazil in order to thrash out a deal for Vasco da Gama teenager Marrony this summer.

The 20-year-old has broken into Vasco’s first team of late, and has clocked up 22 senior appearances for the top-tier Brazilian outfit. He has even found the back of the net on one occasion.

He has a contract until December 2023, but Nickson has travelled to South America in a bid to bring the youngster to St. James’ Park. Marrony has a £31.5million release clause in his contract, but it remains to be seen if Newcastle will have to pay that figure.

Newcastle are also reportedly closing in on the signing of OGC Nice attacker Allan Saint-Maximin despite reports over his attitude. It is believed a fee for the France Under-21 international will be in the region of £20million.

But it would see Ayoze Perez replaced, leaving little for the purchase of Marrony. Newcastle fans reacted to the news that their club could be about to sign a second Brazilian this summer in the form of the Vasco da Gama ace.
