The Washington Justice drew 350 DC esports fans for its inaugural match

Roughly 350 esports fans gathered to watch the Washington Justice‘s inaugural match this past weekend.

D.C.’s Overwatch team owner Mark Ein and presenting sponsor Events DC hosted the inaugural watch party on Feb. 16 for the Washington Justice’s first match against the New York Excelsior. The event was hosted at Penn Social with arcade style gaming, food, beverages and of course big screens for the main event.

The Washington Justice team played their first match from Blizzard Arena in Burbank, Calif., with plans to play in the District in future seasons. Even though the Washington Justice were defeated 1 to 3, fans seemed to be more amped up than ever for esports here in the nation’s capital. The watch party was completely sold out and featured appearances from Ein and president and CEO of Events DC Greg O’Dell.

Fans used the hashtag #Justiceisserved on social media throughout the match.

The Washington Justice will compete in their next match on Thursday, Feb. 22, against the London Spitfire.
