Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley remains front runner for Hull City job

Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley remains the frontrunner for the Hull City job.

The 40-year-old is the current favourite, with some bookies offering prices of 2/1, according to a report by Hull Live.

However, there are doubts as to whether Cowley will leave Sincil Bank this summer with his commitments to a long-term plan there.

He took over the Imps in 2016 and won the National League title in his first season at the club, as well as guiding his side to the FA Cup quarter final.

Cowley’s Lincoln finished 7th in their first campaign back in the Football League and also won the Checkatrade Trophy final at Wembley after beating Shrewsbury Town 1-0.

The Imps then won the fourth tier title this past season and are now looking forward to playing in League One.

Prior to his move to Lincolnshire, Cowley had managed in non-league with Concord Rangers and Braintree Town.

Hull are in the hunt for a new manager to replace Nigel Adkins, who left them earlier this week. Cowley has been sounded out as a top target for the Championship side but it will be tough to lure him away from Lincoln.

Interviews for the Tigers’ job will start early next week as they look to get a manager in place for the start of pre-season.

There are other candidates for the position, such as Michael Appleton and Paul Heckingbottom, as per a report by The72 earlier today.
