Yeovil Town to turn to former Stevenage manager

Yeovil Town are set to appoint Darren Sarll as their new manager.

The Glovers are expected to name the 36-year-old as their new boss, as per a report by Somerset Live.

Yeovil will be playing their football in the National League next season following their relegation from League Two.

Sarll will be faced with the task of rebuilding the Huish Park club and attempting to get them back into the Football League at the first time of asking.

The coach spent his playing career in non-league with spells at the likes of Hitchin Town, St Albans City, Hemel Hempstead Town and Bedford Town.

Sarll started his coaching career with youth roles at Stevenage before joining Brentford in 2008. He became the Bees’ assistant manager under Andy Scott and later followed him to Rotherham United.

He then moved back to Stevenage in 2012, initially as Head of Youth but later became their first-team coach. Sarll became Boro’s caretaker boss when Teddy Sheringham was sacked in February 2016 and got the full-time role three months later.

Sarll guided Stevenage to a 10th place finish in his first season in charge at Broadway Hall before he was sacked in March 2018. He remained at the club to oversee youth development but left to join the academy at Watford last year.

He is now ready to get back into management with Yeovil Town lining him up as Darren Way’s replacement.
