Salem Media acquires conservative news site PJ Media
Salem Media Group has acquired conservative news site PJ Media, according to a Tuesday press release.
PJ Media, which attracts more than 15 million unique readers per month, will become part of the Townhall Media portfolio alongside conservative online sites Townhall, HotAir, RedState, Twitchy and Bearing Arms.
Townhall Media network Vice President and General Manager Jonathan Garthwaite called the acquisition exciting and lauded PJ Media for covering issues “that impact the future of the country.”
{mosads}“We’re excited to add PJ Media to the Townhall Media network,” said Garthwaite. “PJ Media has done great work covering the issues that impact the future of the country. Townhall Media’s reach at a critical point in our nation’s history grows tremendously with PJ on our team.”
PJ Media’s majority owner, billionaire Aubrey Chernick, said the transaction allows the publication to distribute its content to a larger audience.
“I am honored to have worked with an amazing group of writers to build PJ Media into the respected, trusted and established brand it is today,” Chernick, the company’s former CEO, said in the announcement. “Now, there is an opportunity to continue to expand PJ Media’s voice and brand and distribute its content to an even bigger audience.”
PJ Media was founded in 2004 by novelist and screenwriter Roger Simon and blogger and jazz artist Charles Johnson.
The move comes after conservative media entities TheBlaze and CRTV merged in December 2018.
