Couple in Rhode Island photographed wearing Nazi armband and T-shirt in public

A man and woman in Providence, R.I., were photographed last week outside a restaurant wearing Nazi apparel.

The Providence Journal reports the two were both wearing red armbands with swastikas on them and the woman wore a T-shirt with a swastika emblazoned on it. The man was also reportedly wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat. He also had swastikas tattooed where eyebrows are typically located.

{mosads}Sandra Pierson, a patron of the restaurant who saw the two standing outside, said the pair crossed the street to the visit the city’s Holocaust Memorial.

While at the memorial, the two reportedly leaned on statues, took pictures and laughed, Pierson told the local news outlet.

Pierson’s recollection of the incident was corroborated by another witness.

She said she walked to the memorial and confronted the two.

″’What the hell do you think you’re doing?’” she told the news outlet she said to them. “‘How dare you do this?'”

She said the two responded to her sarcastically and walked back to their car, an old Cadillac with a Massachusetts license plate.

“I literally felt sick to my stomach,” Pierson said. “I started shaking. Everybody at the bar was just really disturbed.”

Pierson added that she called the police but lamented that there is likely nothing they can do.

The Providence Journal reports a person was spotted at the local mall last month wearing a Nazi armband, and a Jewish cemetery in nearby Falls River, Mass., was vandalized late last year.
