New Jersey AG investigating Trump golf club over harassment, immigration claims: report

New Jersey’s attorney general is investigating President Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, N.J., after several current and former housekeepers claimed they were verbally harassed with racial slurs, the New York Daily News reported.

Several housekeepers at the Trump National Golf Club have claimed that they were repeatedly the subjects of mistreatment at work and received threats and racially-charged insults regularly.

Newark-based immigration attorney Anibal Romero told the New York Daily News Friday that the state attorney general’s office contacted him about the claims made by the current and former housekeepers he represents.

{mosads}“These are elements of federal crimes and it’s important that the state attorney general’s office or federal authorities investigate this case,” Romero said. “It is unacceptable that employees of the Trump National Golf Club have to endure this type of abuse.”

The Daily News reports that all five women are or were formerly in the country without legal status, and they also said their supervisor at the golf club threatened to report them to federal authorities if they spoke out about any wrongdoing.

“As a general matter, our office does not confirm or deny investigations,” a spokesperson for the New Jersey AG office told The Hill.

The Trump Organization, which owns and operates the golf club, also did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

The Daily News report comes after two women without legal status working at the golf club spoke with The New York Times about mistreatment at the resort earlier this month.

The Trump Organization told The Hill in a previous statement that “if an employee submitted false documentation in an attempt to circumvent the law, they will be terminated immediately.”
