Lincoln High Street camera shop closes down after 10 years

“It’s always sad to see a store like that go”

A High Street camera shop has pulled down its shutters for the last time in Lincoln after a decade.

London Camera Exchange has closed down its High Street shop after 10 years and one job has been lost.

The rest of the staff have been moved over to the Silver Street branch, which is now the only store in the city.

Jamie Scott, manager of the Silver Street store, told The Lincolnite: “It’s always sad to see a store like that go, but there’s not room for two stores in the current climate.

A sign has been put up in the door to tell customers.

“More and more people are shopping online these days which makes it difficult to keep stores open.

“One person took voluntary redundancy with the rest of the staff moving to the Silver Street store. It’s a more established store and it has been open for over 18 years.”

A sign in the door said the store was consolidated into the Silver Street branch on Saturday, February 2.
