Lincoln High Street barber fined for operating during lockdown

A Lincoln barber shop has been fined for breaching coronavirus lockdown rules by operating a business which should have been closed.

Locals told The Lincolnite that some barber shops in Lincoln were ignoring lockdown rules and were operating ‘underground’ and taking people inside shops through back door entrances.

One business has now been fined for breaching lockdown rules. Police visited Lincoln Barber Shop, located at 364 High Street, on May 16 where a man was given a fixed penalty notice. However, the amount fined was not disclosed by the time of publication.

It has also been issued with a prohibition notice under the Health Protection (coronavirus, restrictions) Regulations 2020 by the City of Lincoln Council.

The enforcement notice from the city council requires the shop to be closed. If it is then in breach of this the business is liable for an unlimited fine.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We attended a business address on High Street, Lincoln, on May 16 and issued an fixed penalty notice to a male.”

Meanwhile, a barber in Gainsborough was also ordered to stop working behind closed doors earlier this month when the owner has been served with a Prohibition Notice.
