By Local Democracy Reporter

A student at a school in Lincoln has tested positive for coronavirus, but the school has announced it still intends to remain open.

In a statement published to Facebook, St Peter and St Paul Catholic Voluntary Academy on Western Avenue stated that it will still be open as usual despite the news.

Upon hearing the information about the student in question, the school said it contacted Public Health England, in line with government guidelines.

The advice given was to stay open and that students or staff should only self-isolate if they develop symptoms.

The statement read: “The school has a thorough risk assessment in place and we will continue to follow this in accordance with the advice from Public Health England.”

Parents and guardians of the school’s students who have been in contact with the affected child have been informed.
