Stunning three bedroom Lincoln home sells for record £1m

It is located a few minutes walk from Lincoln Cathedral

A three bedroom detached house with a swimming pool near Lincoln Cathedral has been sold for a record breaking £1 million.

The house on Sewell Road is said to have three double bedrooms and was marketed by estate agents Mount & Minster.

The contemporary open-plan home was initially put on the market and was described at the time as a four bedroom home last year, but was sold for less than the asking price of £1.2 million.

Mount & Minster said the £1 million is the highest sum paid for a three bedroom property in Lincoln according to Land Registry data.

No four bedroom property has managed to achieve this figure either, neither in Lincoln or any of the neighbouring villages.

Although the buyer wished to remain anonymous, the estate agents confirmed there was significant interest both from local applicants and more substantially from southern buyers registered with their London office.

The sale was handled by James Ward, partner at Mount & Minster and head of the Lincoln office.

Ralph Wyrley-Birch, Senior Partner, said: “Lincoln and the surrounding villages are becoming increasingly popular with buyers from London. We have a reliable and fast rail network and we can offer more for their hard-earned money.

“What’s becoming increasingly apparent post-lockdown is that working from home has never been more easy and provides a better work-family balance. The number of applicants looking in our region that have registered with our office in London has increased significantly during lockdown.

“It would appear being isolated in a small yet expensive space in an area that saw the worst of the initial COVID-19 health crisis has clearly taken its toll and the exodus from the south to other areas such as ours has already begun.”
