Victim named as fatal Lincoln assault probe continues

David Turner is the named victim of the uni bridge assault

The identity of a man who police believe was fatally assaulted near university bridge in Lincoln has been confirmed.

The victim was 50-year old David Turner.

A serious assault incident was opened after he was found with a head injury near Brayford Way on Saturday, May 16.

Sadly, he died in hospital on Tuesday, May 19.

One man was arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Lincolnshire Police said in a statement previously:”We are treating the death as unexplained and have arrested and bailed a 38-year-old man in connection with this incident that took place on Saturday, May 16 near the University Bridge in Lincoln.

“Officers are also supporting the family of this man during this difficult time.”

Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses to contact them by calling 101 and quoting incident number 465 of May 16.
