Behind the efforts of senior Autymn Schreiner, Wabaunsee had no problems against Silver Lake on Tuesday.

Schreiner poured in 29 points for the Chargers, lifting them to a 64-39 home victory over Silver Lake on Tuesday.

She got off to a quick start, scoring 11 of the team’s 15 points in the first quarter. By halftime, the Chargers — ranked No. 3 in Class 2A in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll — had extended their lead to 33-20. Nothing changed after the break, as the Chargers outscored the Eagles in both the third (15-10) and fourth periods (16-9).

Schreiner knocked down seven 2-point field goals and three 3-pointers in her 29-point outburst. One other Charger joined her in double figures: sophomore Lauren Schutter, who finished with 13 points. No Eagle posted a double-digit scoring performance in the 25-point loss.

Wabaunsee returns to action Friday, traveling to Flush to take on Rock Creek.

Frankfort boys 64, Wetmore 46

A well-balanced scoring effort helped Frankfort High’s boys basketball team down Wetmore at home on Tuesday, winning 64-46.

Ten of the 11 Wildcats who entered the contest scored at least three points, with no player ending with more than 13 — led by Garret Dalinghaus. Aiden Gerstner was next with 11.

Frankfort led for the duration, up 12-8 at the end of the opening period and 29-19 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Wildcats outpaced the Cardinals 20-14 to take a 49-33 advantage into the final stanza. Frankfort capped the contest by winning the fourth quarter 15-13.

Frankfort takes the court again Saturday, participating in the Twin Valley League tournament.

Frankfort girls 57, Wetmore 33

The Frankfort High girls basketball team overcame a slow start to win in convincing fashion Tuesday. Down 12-6 after the first quarter, the Wildcats rallied back and cruised to a 57-33 victory.

After the forgettable first quarter, Frankfort closed to within two points, 20-18, by halftime. After the break, the Wildcats flipped a switch and dominated the Cardinals.

Frankfort outscored Wetmore 18-4 in the third quarter and 21-9 in the fourth en route to a 24-point win.

Three Wildcats recorded double-digit point totals: Mariah Broxterman (18), Tara Fox (14) and Kennen Brandt (12).

Frankfort’s next game will come Saturday, as it takes part in the Twin Valley League tournament.
