After a break of 65 days, the first commercial passenger aircraft with 160 commuters landed in Agartala from Kolkata in the morning on May 29 and returned with less number of passengers to Kolkata.
This is the only flight scheduled for Agartala in the next three days.
Earlier, it was decided to operate six flights daily from May 25 to reach Agartala from Kolkata, Guwahati, Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru and return to the same destinations. But due to cyclone Amphan affecting Kolkata airport, all the scheduled flights via Kolkata were canceled except an Indigo flight between Agartala and Kolkata on May 31.
To handle the passengers in COVID-19 situation, AAI has made web checking between 48 hours and two hours of the travel mandatory. As per the protocol, passengers were asked to report the entry gate at least two hours before boarding.
“There has been a restriction on carrying more than one check-in and one small hand baggage. Each and every passenger was screened by the health workers and cross-check the COVID-free declaration made by the passengers online while web checking and check the Aarogya Setu app of the passengers before allowing them entry into the airport lobby,” said officials.
The passengers were not allowed to sit together and without mask and other protective gears. The aircraft has been sanitized after disembarkment of passengers and the flyers were allowed to board the flight after second time screening. Similar, preventive measures have been taken for the passengers who de-boarded in Agartala.
