Rams not making any excuses about long stay in Atlanta, trip to London

When the Rams’ schedule was released earlier this year, it was revealed that the NFL granted them a small request. The week before their trip to London, the Rams wanted to play on the East Coast, thus making their travel schedule a bit easier.

Two years ago, they played the Jaguars one week before facing the Cardinals in London, and rather than traveling back to Los Angeles between those games, they stayed in Jacksonville. They’ll do the same thing this week after playing the Falcons and before heading to London to face the Bengals.

Sean McVay isn’t bothered by the difficult travel schedule and being on the road for two consecutive weeks, nor are his players.

“It’s something that we just deal with. The Bengals have to go through the same thing, so for us, I think this team is well-accustomed to adjusting and adapting,” he said at his press conference Wednesday. “Being able to stay on the East Coast is very helpful just from our previous experience a couple years ago when we stayed in Jacksonville. Guys are feeling good, they don’t make any excuses. They kind of just go about their business in a professional manner and the nice thing is you get your bye afterwards. It is a lot of traveling, but each team has to go through it and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to see if we can play well in front of a great crowd and see if we can get our fifth win.”

The Rams will get a nice break after their London game, hitting their bye at the exact midway point of the season. They’ll hit the road again after the bye, heading to Pittsburgh in Week 10.

It’s very possible the Rams will be 5-3 entering the week off, which would be a decent record after losing three games in a row.

First, they have to take care of the Bengals before thinking about the second half of the season and a potential playoff push.
