SpiceJet to connect Shirdi-Delhi; Mumbai-Kanpur

MUMBAI: Low cost airline SpiceJet is set to be the first airline to provide air connectivity between Delhi and the temple town of Shirdi, near Nashik in Maharashtra with daily direct flights to begin from October 1. It will also be the first airline to launch flights between Mumbai and Kanpur next month.
The famous Shirdi Sai Baba temple receives an estimated 60,000 pilgrims every day.
"With the new flights launched, tourists who otherwise take a rail or road tour can conveniently switch to a more convenient and time sensitive travel mode," said SpiceJet in a press release. Shirdi airport was commissioned only in October last year.
Additionally the airline will also launched a new daily direct flight on the Mumbai-Kanpur route effective from 8 October thereby becoming the first airline to connect the country’s financial capital and UP’s commercial capital, the release said.
"With the introduction of the daily direct flight services on the Mumbai-Kanpur-Mumbai route, passengers from Kanpur can now conveniently travel to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections from Mumbai," it said. The airline will also operate first direct flight on the Mumbai-Jaisalmer route starting 29 October and third direct flight on Mumbai-Kolkata route from 1 November.
SpiceJet plans to deploy the Boeing 737 on the sectors of Mumbai-Kanpur-Mumbai, Shirdi-Delhi-Shirdi, Mumbai-Jaisalmer-Mumbai and Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai routes.
