AGARTALA: Three persons were injured and 500 were rendered homeless after a heavy hail
storm lashed parts of
Sepahijala district and
Khowai districts late on Wednesday evening. Amid threat of Covid-19, a heavy
hail storm on Wednesday evening left at least three people injured and over 500 people homeless in two districts of
Tripura. More than a hundred of houses suffered damage in the villages in Charilam, Golaghati and Takarjala areas of Sepahijala district and
Kalayanpur of Khowai.
The administration has opened five relief camps, where 550 people have ta-ken shelter. Four relief camps have been set up in Sepahijala and one in Khowai. CM Biplab Kumar Deb and deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma have visited the worst-affected villages of Sepahijala and directed the local administration to provide assistance to the affected people.
They, however, assured villagers that the state government would help them rebuild homes. The meteorological department has predicted hail storm with mo-derate rain and gusty winds across Tripura in the next three days.
