AGARTALA: Besides, bring back the stranded Tripura people due to lockdown in 11 states of the country, Tripura government has sent a group of 83 stranded workers of Rajasthan on Monday by bus, as part of the initiative to send 33,000 migrant workers stuck here.
The group including women and children who remained stranded at different places in the state was brought to Agartala and all of them had gone for mandatory medical tests for coronavirus.
After the test, they were sent to Churaibari from Chandrapur ISBT in six buses from here.
They have been boarded for their native places in 10 buses that arrived from Rajasthan with students from Kota. Besides, arranging food, shelter and medical assistance, Tripura government had also provided cash assistance to each of the migrant workers, which has been appreciated across the country, said government spokesperson Ratan Lal Nath adding that no other state had given cash assistance or supported their travel to migrant workers.
“We are poor indeed but our heart is broad. Our people and government stand behind the sufferers and public contribution to chief ministers’ relief fund made for Covid only has swelled to over Rs 10 crore. I am in doubt whether any such benevolent step being supported the common mass anywhere,” Nath said.
