AGARTALA: The
Tripura health department on Saturday reiterated that nobody in the state had contracted the
novel coronavirus (nCoV) and health screening facilities have been installed at India-Bangladesh checkpost and
Agartala airport.
Director of health and family welfare Dr Radha Debbarma said the health screening had been installed after the ministry of health issued an alert against nCoV and that the health department had been continuously monitoring people entering into the state from affected countries.
Debbarma said the health department has identified 22 people who recently returned from nCov-affected countries such as China, Singapore and Thailand, but no one has tested positive. The department asked the 22 people to stay alert and remain in touch with state-run isolation ward at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC).
According to reports, 10 of these people returned from China, nine have a travel history to Thailand, one visited Hong Kong, while two went to Singapore after the nCov alert was issued in India.
