AGARTALA: A sessions court here on Friday issued a search warrant against former
Tripura chief secretary and ex-chairman of Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) YP Singh in connection with the Rs 164-crore
scam in the state
PWD following an FIR lodged on October 13.
Early this year, Singh had returned to his home town in Uttar Pradesh after completion of his tenure in the TPSC.
Two other accused in the case - former PWD minister of the Left Front government and CPM central committee member Badal Choudhury and retired chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik - have been arrested and are in hospital now. Initially, Bhowmik was sent to to jail custody for two days and then five days in police remand. Choudhury was initially given bail till October 16 and when the bail extension was rejected, he disappeared from the police network. Later, when got admitted to a private hospital with serious health complaints, police finally arrested him on October 21. The high court has listed the hearing of his bail plea on October 30.
When vigilance started investigation into the scam in July this year, Singh was summoned after which he appeared before the investigator. After lodging an FIR, police had reportedly tried to contact him on the phone but failed.
