Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb flags off AirAsia's maiden flight from Agartala

AGARTALA: Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb, accompanied by transport minister Pranajit Singharoy and Loksabha MPs Pratima Bhowmik and Rebati Tripura, on Sunday flagged off AirAsia's maiden flight connecting Guwahati, Kolkata, Imphal and New Delhi here.
The first flight flew with 180 passengers to Guwahati and came back back to Agartala. Later, it went to Kolkata. Arpan Chowdhury, who is from Belonia in Tripura, was the pilot for the Agartala-Guwahati flight.

According to Air Asia officials, the 180 seater airbus will reach Agartala from Kolkata at 8.40 am and then move to Delhi via Kolkata at 9.10 am every day, except Sunday. With this, Agartala now has three flights to Delhi. Another Air Asia flight will fly from Kolkata to Agartala at 1 pm and from Agartala it will go to Guwahati four days and to Imphal three days at 2.20 pm. The flight will come back to Agartala from its respective destinations and go to Kolkata at 4.50 pm everyday.
According to Airport Authority of India officials here, considering the passenger traffic, Air Asia would run 13 flights in the Kolkata-Agartala sector every week and six flights in the Agartala-Delhi sector via Kolkata weekly. For the Guwahati-Agartala route, it would operate four flights in a week besides three to Imphal.
