AGARTALA: The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tripura has increased to 173 with four civilians and two BSF jawans of the 86th battalion getting infected in the last two days.
According to health officials, the four civilians had returned from Chennai and were asymptomatic at the time of their arrival on May 19. However, as a standard norm, the sample of every fifth passenger among the returnees are being collected and after testing 850 samples, four were found positive.
"They were brought under treatment and all their contacts in the train and families have been asked to follow a strict procedure of quarantine.
The samples of all these people have been collected for testing," said health officials here. They added that all asymptomatic people returning from outside have been sent for home quarantine and symptomatic ones taken to facility quarantine until they test negative. However, the sample of all returnees coming from hotspots have been tested.
Government spokesperson and education minister Ratan Lal Nath said with the beginning of the fourth phase of lockdown, the Tripura government has started running trains from different destinations to evacuate over 30,000 stranded people and six trains have already come. So, there might be some positive cases but the system has been evolved to handle them.
The rate of Covid-19 positive case in Tripura stands at only 0.33% while the recovery rate is 78%, which is highest in the country, the minister claimed. The testing rate in the state is 4,000 per million.
