Tripura tally rises to 271 as 27 more test positive

The Covid-19 tally in Tripura has gone up to 271 with the detection of 27 new cases. While 10 people tested positive on Friday night, 17 others did so on Saturday.

AGARTALA: The Covid-19 tally in Tripura has gone up to 271 with the detection of 27 new cases. While 10 people tested positive on Friday night, 17 others did so on Saturday.
At present, the state has 104 active cases. Altogether, 172 patients have recovered so far. Five others have gone back to their home states.
The state government has said the rate of infection will come down drastically when movement of the state residents from outside would be over by June 2.

According to reports, more than 2,500 people, which includes 52 from Kuwait, 106 from Bangladesh and 166 by flight from Kolkata, have entered the state in the last 24 hours.
Among the 10 fresh cases, eight returned from Bangladesh, one from Gurugram and one is a family member of a BSF personnel of the 86th battalion.
The state government has advised all the home comers, including negative and asymptomatic persons, to remain in home quarantine for 14 days as per the protocol and the local administration, clubs and citizens have been requested to keep an eye on them to ensure compliance of the directives.

Officials said two buses from Guwahati have started for Tripura last night with 46 Kuwait returnees but their arrival in Agartala would be delayed due to torrential rain and thunderstorm in Meghalaya and South Assam. All of them would be taken to institutional quarantine for 14 days in any case.
A Neo aircraft of Jazeera Airways landed in Guwahati from Kuwait with 201 passengers - 52 from Tripura and 155 from Assam - on Friday night. As per the direction of the ministry of external affairs, all of them were taken to the facility near Guwahati at night and provided food. Subsequently, Tripura passengers started their journey by buses.
