Rajasthan man’s ‘car’nama: Says ‘talaq’ an hour after saying ‘qubool hai’

AGRA: The city police booked a Rajasthan man under the new triple talaq law after he pronounced instant divorce just an hour after solemnizing his wedding on Thursday night. The accused, Nadeem, was allegedly demanding a car in dowry just after his nikah with a girl from Hariparvat area of the Taj City, say police.
According to police, Nadeem (27) alias Pappan, who hails from Dholpur district of Rajasthan, came along with a handful of baratis to tie the knot with Ruby (26) of Hariparvat on Thursday night.

"Just an hour after the nikah, where Nadeem had said 'qubool hai' thrice in front of the maulvi and other relatives accepting my sister as his wife, he gave instant talaq just because we failed to provide a car to them," said Ruby’s brother Amir.
"His family members not only insulted us after the wedding, but when we confronted Nadeem's relative, they threw stones on us, after which we called police," said Amir.
According to police, apart from Nadeem, eight other person of his family, who had come as baratis, have been booked under the dowry act and IPC Section 498 A (domestic violence) as well, based on the bride’s mother Farisha Begum’s written complaint.
Rubi is the third youngest among seven siblings, and works as a receptionist at a private dental clinic. Accused Nadeem is claims to be 'cash carrier' for a shoe firm. He and his relatives booked in the case are yet to be arrested.
Praveen Kumar, station house officer of Hariparvat, said, "We are probing the matter and will soon arrest the accused and his relatives."
